REVIEW:
As always seems to happen with such works, there was quite a
wide variety in styles and talents among the various authors. Some were much darker than others; and a
couple were a bit too sinister for me. Various
stories were somewhat believable, while others were way far out there. A few had definite outcomes to the storyline,
while others ended on a cliff-hanger.
“The Ghost” by Jessica Gunn was definitely my favorite of
the tales. This may have had a lot to do
though with the fact that it was placed within her Hunter Circles world, from which
I have read other stories. But the
characters were all new and quite intriguing, especially Lincoln, and I’m
hopeful that they may make an appearance in future stories.
“Story of the Unknown
Solder” by Daphne René was sweet and
interesting. It had moments of definite
intrigue, mystery and tension, but nothing too scary.
“The Transgressions of Faith Eileen” by Melanie McFarlane
was also a story that I quite enjoyed, but I was very disappointed in the
ending as it was one of those cliff-hangers that I mentioned earlier. This is one, however, that I might be willing
to follow-up for some resolution.
Overall, I’d say it was a fun
read, especially if you are into things a bit on the darker side.
