Synopsis:

Wilder Flint was the worst mistake of my life.

I should have known better than to fall for his cruel charms and cut-glass eyes, but I was good at calculus and bad at understanding people.

He shredded my heart to pieces.

I spent ten years forgetting Wilder Flint, and it took every minute.

Of course he shows up again. He’s got the same blue eyes, the same cocky grin, and a brand-new swagger that makes me weak in the knees.

I’ve got a summer research project in the Arctic and three canceled flights. Wilder’s got a plane.

But when we crash deep in the middle of nowhere, all we’ve got is each other.

I hate Wilder. I hate him in the depths of my soul, with a fire and fury I’ve never felt about anything else.

But that doesn’t mean I can resist him.

After all, love and hate aren’t so different.

~BOOK REVIEW for "The Savage Wild"~

****(4) out of 5 Stars!

This was a good story, but certainly not my favorite of Roxie Noir's that I've read to date.  There's all the angst from flashbacks to the couple's high school days, and drama from the present as well as they try to navigate through the minefield of their forced renewed proximity.  And that's even aside from all the trauma of the plane crash and resultant attempt at survival and rescue.

The characters were authentic and believable; their individual thoughts and feelings understandable and convincing, if not always sympathetic.  I just had a real hard time even liking Wilder after the things that he intentionally did to hurt Imogen, both in the past and present, let alone rooting for him.

I did, however, really appreciate the committment that he (finally!) made to her near the end of the story.  It seemed like he finally gained some insight, once he realized that repeating the same mistakes he made in the past would almost surely end in the same result.  It was refreshing to see him grow up and mature.  And to see him rewarded with Imogen's love and trust eventually.  Although I doubt that I would have been so quick to forgive him.

Still, it was a good solid love story with some definite action moments, interesting plot twists, spicy scenes, and obvious emotional growth for the characters and their relationship, despite the odds being stacked so heavily against them.

I received an eBook copy of this title free from Foreward PR & Marketing,
and have willingly provided an honest review.

About the Author

I love writing sexy, alpha men and the headstrong women they fall for.
My weaknesses include: beards, whiskey, nice abs with treasure trails, sarcasm, cats, prowess in the kitchen, prowess in the bedroom, forearm tattoos, and gummi bears.
I live in California with my very own sexy, bearded, whiskey-loving husband and two hell-raising cats.
